Project Development Initiative (RFQ)
Haywood County, located in the mountains of Western North Carolina, invites qualified firms to submit Statements of Qualifications for the Haywood County Project Development Initiative. This effort focuses on advancing priority public-sector projects from concept to implementation readiness, with an emphasis on outdoor recreation, waterway access, and community-centered infrastructure.
The Haywood County Tourism Development Authority (HCTDA), operating as Visit Haywood, is a public authority established to manage occupancy tax revenues generated by overnight visitors. HCTDA supports economic development across the county by promoting tourism, investing in destination assets, and enhancing quality of life for both residents and visitors. The selected consultant will contract with HCTDA and work in collaboration with Haywood County and its municipalities.
This RFQ builds on the recently adopted Haywood County Destination Master Plan and is informed by ongoing recovery efforts following significant flooding events. As communities continue to adapt and rebuild, this initiative represents a strategic opportunity to transform publicly owned properties, including flood-impacted sites, into resilient community assets that improve access to natural resources, support local economies, and enhance overall quality of life.
The selected firm will assist in developing conceptual plans, cost estimates, and grant-ready materials for priority sites, while also helping establish a framework for future phases of project development across the county.
